This is the cover of The Dog and the Sportsman, published in 1845. It is the first American book devoted to dogs. Extremely rare. One of the five plates can be seen in our ebay listing.
This shot and the two below are a few of the Erich Tylinek photographs found in the book Introducing Dogs with text by Leonard Naylor.
Below are two of the photos from the charming book Barney, The Story of a Wirehaired Terrier, by H. Armstrong Roberts. 1934
The following illustrations of the Golden Retriever, French Bulldog (with Siamese cat), Pekingese and Chow are from Lucy Dawson's book Dogs as I See Them. 1937
This is the title page from William Youatt's The Dog. I have included the title page as well as the illustrations for the Poodle, Cocker and Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, Tibetian Mastiff and the Collie. Only the page for the Poodle is actually in the book I'm selling. This will give you an idea of how the pages have aged. The others are taken from the internet since I didn't want to risk scanning the images from the book I'm selling.
