To the right and below are some of the equisite headstudies by Gladys Emerson Cook. They appear in her book American Champions.
This is the very worn cover of Crib and Fly, A Tale of Two Terriers, 1901. It shows the drop-eared Skye Terrier, Crib, dragging a swan from the pond.
To the left and below are Paul Brown pen-and-ink illustrations from Dogs of Destiny, by Fairfax Downey, 1949.
The illustration to the right comes from the lovely book Rolf, An Elkhound of Norway, by Margaret Johnson and Helen Lossing Johnson. It is one of a series of books that the daughter-mother team wrote and illustrated about dogs. Below you see a copy of the book in its original dust jacket. This copy has SOLD. The copy on the right is in fair condition only and has been reinforced with library tape on the binding and corners.
The image below is from the very rare 1876 book The American Kennel and Sporting Field, by Arnold Burges. This image is taken from the internet, not from the actual book. I did not want to compromise the book by laying it flat to scan it and this image shows up better than what I felt I would get using a digital camera. This is one of six plates found in the book.
